Barcelona is alive with Terps. Besides being a melting pot of hashheads form the surrounding parts of Europe, there are hundreds of social clubs across the city, each with its own selection of local and national offering. During the week of Spannabis the streets are filled with some of the best hashmakers working today, all brought together to compete in a dozen or more competitions happening in restaurants, private rooms, and the Catalan countryside.
Zkittlez was involved in at least fourteen different top three placements and around seven first place wins this year, including out at 3rd Gen Family Farm’s Ego Clash where the UK’s Single Sorcery took home Gold in Rosin for ZHead (which actually contains Zkittlez from 3rd Gen’s other brand Dying Breed Seeds). We even saw straight Z taking first (Have Hash) and third (Real Deal Resin) at Masters of Rosin, prompting many to wonder if we’ll see a repeat at their first ever New York edition this April.
All throughout these events the Hashtek team was busy introducing people to their line of equipment while yours truly was tasked with looking for some of the craziest jars that hit the scene and bringing them to you in a bite-sized box with a scrollable bow. Here are my favorite scores in no particular order…
TOP TERPS
Slite23 Box Set
Your browser does not support the video tag.We’re starting off strong with something that was on everybody’s “must have” list. With only 50 made, posting pics of this box set off three-alarm FOMO fires with your friends back home. One of Spain’s most popular hashmakers, Slite23 released this as his personally written love letter to hash, that we all get to smoke. There were four flavors featured in the box: Frosted Onionz, Honey Banana (form a cut gifted by Real Deal Resin), Motor Z, and Dulce de Uva (from a cut gifted by Nikka T). These were some special jars, the flavors were subtle where you wouldn’t expect and then brought the hurricane when you expected a breeze. For anyone not lucky enough to be among the fifty, Slite23 hosted a tasting where members of HQ could sample from his personal box set.
Neighbors Tropaya BX
Everybody’s talking about the Neighbors. Winners of best sativa at Spannabis Champions Cup, this is a living soil outfit in Barcelona, no small feat when you consider the size restrictions and unique conditions small batch cultivators in Europe have to deal with. The Tropaya rosin we saw from them was not only a gorgeous color and consistency, but had a flavor that was bright and fruity without being over the top, something you could imagine smoking all day. We quickly noticed the sluethiest terp hunters in town all had a plain black jar in their stash that let you know they’d met the Neighbors. Shout-out to Nikka T for rolling that hash hole with their Frosted Panna Cotta and Frosted Onionz flower.
Grateful Seeds/ Swollen Heads Collab
Bred by Italians in Spain then hunted, grown, and washed up in Northern California, this is another example of the friendship between the US and EU communities. Swollen Heads, who took 2nd place at the 2024 Legends of Hash in Spain, created these flavors using genetics from Grateful Seeds, who were responsible for a string of victories around Barcelona this year. Swollen Heads used all Grateful genetics to blend and create two flavors: a Melon Granada that smelled light and fruity and the Joyful Headz (ZHead x Fruit Joy) which took the win for me.

Something my fellow journalists could not stop raving about was this traditional hash from the Strain Hunters Social Club. I was blown away by the chunk I smoked and I’ve asked the incredible Stoney Xochi to give you her take: “Barbara Bud is one of those strains that’s incredibly popular throughout the European smoking scene and it’s almost always found in the form of traditional Moroccan hash. …It’s really special to open up a jar of hash and find a terpene profile so reminiscent of something so specific, like peaches in this case. California is the land of candies so when I found something so uniquely fruity, I knew it was something I was going to be coming back to through my trip.” -@stoneyxochi

Coming in from Germany, where things are looking like we might see legalization, Cnusper’s artist set is a project that I first saw last year in Barcelona when they partnered with Spanish artist @yu_yubs. This time around they have a Berlin artist @drik_the_villain on creative direction and the jars have a badass ‘90s sci-fi look to them. 2024 features a return on their Papaya Melonz and Sour Apple Runtz, along with a C4DD, and Dulce De Fresa. I also really loved how they went from loose jars to a prototype miniature briefcase with a removable cold pack. Combined with the art the effect was totally something from Blade Runner.

I know we already mentioned this as part of the Slite box set, but it cannot be overlooked how much the crowd of visitors enjoyed smoking Frosted Onionz. We have Grateful Seeds to thank for this again for crossing Frosted Melon to 26mm and making this hash-dumping beast. While you’d expect a lot of up-front funk and savory splash, the versions we tried at Terpy Social Club and the Slite23 box had a wonderful balance of sweet and savory - where you could get nasty onions or a whiff of sweet gas but you had to pull it out of the blend. This is one I’m excited to see hit the states.
Babushka Farms Tiki Tiki
The official house brand of the wickedly popular social club HQ, a jar of Babushka is always a safe bet. This visit to Spain the club offered rosin, flower, and piattella versions of their Tiki Tiki (Zkittlezx Bacio). Cali smoker extraordinaire Hash Tribe told us, “I had the piatella collab with Uncle’s and it had soft fruit notes with a lot of power.” Not a strain we see on many dispensary menus back home, he found it to be, “something I feel would go underlooked in the states but the makers here in Europe have been able to take a gassy strain and give it such a sweet hash taste.” Having bought a jar of the rosin and a quarter of the flower, I have to agree.
Professor Sift Toriyama Dedication Jars
This one clocks in for the jar alone. Most of you are familiar with the flavors of Professor Sift but those with an eye for design know that he’s also regarded for dropping some incredibly detailed packaging. This new one features a tribute to the late Amira Toriyama who created the world of Dragonball. With Master Roshi emblazoned on a black top, the details in the raised, holographic, and gloss printing offer a farewell sendoff to the creator of one of the most beloved manga and anime franchises of all time.

It’s a badass thing to get to see a strain presented by someone in its flower and hash form, especially someone as excited for their craft as Sativa Engineering who’s passion for hash scored a 3rd place win at last year’s Masters of Rosin, and led him to create a level of product he calls “Unobtainium.” Something, “so extraordinary you couldn’t have imagined it until you’ve experienced it.” Hard to get and never to be seen twice, the Blue Zushi examples he brought out more than fit the bill, looking like freshly fallen yellow snow and with a crazy flavor burst that felt like hitting the boost right at the start of a Mario kart race.

Another European/American team-up, this one was not only something the crowd was clamoring to find, but one of the prettiest jars dropped during our time in Spain. When we caught up at Terps Army, Pepe from Ogre Farms told us how they were offered the chance to collaborate with Hassan, “to showcase two of our flavors that we both see a lot of sweet candy characteristics in but are still very different from each other.” The Rambutan top half is from Hassan while the Zkittlez in the bottom comes from Ogre, all wrapped in a design featuring an Ottoman-style warrior holding a resin-soaked paddle, standing over an ocean of trichome skulls.
