The Recipe
Rosin-Infused Gummies Recipe
Step-by-Step Directions
1. Prepare Your Workstation
- Set up your double boiler on the hotplate. This prevents direct heat contact, avoiding scorching.
- Measure out your pre-made gummies and rosin using a scale for accurate dosing.
- Chilling the rosin and using parchment paper can help when dealing with sticky decarb’d rosin.
2. Melt the Gummies
- Add the gummies to the double boiler and heat gently, stirring continuously.
- Monitor the temperature carefully—do not let it exceed 180°F (if the mixture starts steaming it is likely too hot)
- Once the gummies are fully melted, move to the next step.
- Small amounts of water can be added to counteract the moisture loss from heating the mixture. Adding water will result in a softer gummy.
3. Add Lecithin & Rosin
- Stir in the lecithin to help with emulsification.
- Add the decarbed rosin, ensuring it fully incorporates into the melted gummies.
4. Homogenize the Mixture
- If available, use an overhead stirrer set to 200 RPM for 5-10 minutes to ensure thorough mixing.
- If stirring manually, continue mixing steadily for at least 5 minutes to prevent uneven dosing.
5. Prepare the Molds
- Apply a light layer of release spray to the gummy molds to prevent sticking.
- Pour the melted mixture into molds, ensuring even distribution.
- Flood And Scrape technique is the easiest we have found.
6. Set the Gummies
- Transfer the filled molds to the fridge and let them set overnight.
- Cover the top of the mold with saran wrap so that it does not dry out. This will ensure even sugaring during the coating stage.
7. Coat & Store
- Once fully set, remove the gummies from the molds.
- Optionally, coat them in white sugar for texture and reduced stickiness.
- Store the finished gummies in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Pro Tips
- Use an overhead mixer for even distribution—prevents “hot spots” with higher rosin concentrations.
- Buy gummies in bulk by flavor to save time separating mixed bags.
- Monitor temperature carefully—never exceed 180°F to preserve rosin potency.

Gummy Selection
When choosing gummies for this recipe, Albanese gummies are our go-to option. They come in 5 lb bags of single-color flavors, making them a cost-effective and convenient choice—because let’s be real, nobody wants to sort through a mixed bag picking out individual colors.
Favorite Flavor Combinations
- Pineapple + Mango – These flavors mix well together for a tropical vibe.
- Red Cherry – A bold standalone flavor that works great on its own.
While Albanese gummies are an affordable and accessible option, they may not be the healthiest choice. As our friend Dustin from Future4200 pointed out, the first ingredient is corn syrup. If you’re looking for a healthier alternative, he recommends:
- German Haribo – Known for their high-quality gelatin and better ingredient list.
- Melt To Make – A premium option designed specifically for infusion.
Ultimately, the choice comes down to personal preference and priorities—cost, convenience, and quality all play a role.
The Simplicity of Melting Down Pre-Made Gummies
In the world of edible cannabis products, rosin gummies stand out for their potency and the purity of the experience they offer. However, the traditional process of making these gummies from scratch can be daunting for many. That’s where our latest innovation comes into play—a simplified method that drastically reduces the complexity of making your own rosin gummies at home.
The essence of this method lies in its simplicity: melting down existing gummies and enriching them with lecithin and decarboxylated (decarb’d) rosin before letting them re-solidify. This approach circumvents the need for a complex preparation process involving gelatin, a staple of our single-source recipe. While our original method offered the unique appeal of single-source flavoring, it required users to navigate the intricacies of blooming gelatin, adding preservatives, and meticulously fine-tuning the formulation—a process not everyone is keen on or has time for.
Why Opt for the Simplified Method?
The beauty of this simplified method is twofold. Firstly, it leverages the expertise of professional gummy manufacturers, who have already perfected the art of creating delicious, well-preserved treats. This means you don’t have to worry about the science of preservation or the balance of flavors; it’s all been taken care of for you. Secondly, it opens up a world of flavor possibilities. While single-source gummies are limited to the inherent flavors of the rosin used, this method allows for a delightful array of tastes thanks to the variety of artificially flavored gummies available on the market.
Pro Tip: Bulk Purchase by Flavor
One practical tip for those interested in trying out this method is to purchase gummies in bulk by flavor. This spares you the hassle of sorting through mixed bags to separate the flavors. For our experiments, we found Albanese gummies to be an excellent choice due to their quality and the variety of flavors available.
Get the Overhead Mixer
We used the labfish overhead stirrer for this experiment. The RPM control is very accurate and this allowed us to run it in the low 100-200 rpm range needed for this application.
Homogenization is extremely important when making gummies to ensure you do not have hot spots that have higher concentrations of rosin. For this reason having an overhead stirrer is extremely valuable as you can allow it to run for 5-10 min uninterrupted rather than having to mix manually for this period of time. Although it is an initial investment of a few hundred dollars it certainly pays for itself.
Key Considerations
While this method is designed for simplicity, there are still some important considerations to keep in mind. The most crucial is to avoid overheating the gummies during the melting process, as this can lead to scorching and an undesirable alteration in taste and texture. Equally important is ensuring thorough mixing to achieve complete homogenization of the rosin within the gummy mixture. This ensures that each gummy contains a uniform concentration of rosin, providing a consistent dosing experience.
Conclusion
For those seeking an easier, more accessible way to create rosin gummies at home, this simplified method is a game-changer. It eliminates the technical hurdles associated with gelatin-based recipes and offers a fun, customizable approach to crafting your own cannabis-infused treats. Remember to pay close attention to temperature control and mixing for the best results. With a little practice, you’ll be able to enjoy homemade rosin gummies that are not only potent and pure but also delightfully flavored, thanks to the wide range of pre-made gummies available. Happy gummy making!
